Most travelers to Tanzania require a visa to enter the country. However, some nationalities are exempt or do not require a visa for short stays. It’s essential to confirm your status before departure.

Note: Citizens of these countries may still need to show a return/onward ticket, proof of accommodation, and sufficient funds.
Valid for single entry up to 90 days.
Used for tourism, visiting friends/relatives, or short business trips.
Fee: $50 USD for most nationalities (except USA).
USA citizens: $100 USD (multiple-entry visa).
Ideal for those entering Tanzania several times over a year.
Valid for 1 year, allows multiple entries.
USA citizens: automatically issued a multiple-entry visa at $100.
For travelers transiting through Tanzania for less than 7 days.
Fee: $30 USD
Proof of onward travel required.
For short-term business visits.
Fee: $250 USD
Requires invitation letter or documentation from host company.
Available at major entry points (airports and borders).
Recommended only if you couldn’t apply online.
Payment must be in USD cash (clean, unmarked notes).
Can involve queues and waiting time.

Steps to Apply:
Fill out the online application.
Upload passport copy and a passport-size photo.
Pay via credit/debit card.
Receive confirmation and approval by email (within 10 working days).
Present printed visa upon arrival.
To apply for a visa (online or on arrival), you’ll need:
A passport valid for at least 6 months from entry date.
At least one blank page in your passport.
A recent passport-size photo.
Return or onward flight ticket.
Proof of accommodation or tour booking.
Vaccination certificate (if applicable – see below).
Tanzania requires proof of Yellow Fever vaccination only if:
You are arriving from a Yellow Fever endemic country (even transiting for over 12 hours).
Examples of such countries: Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, South Sudan, DR Congo, etc.
Other recommended vaccinations (not required):

Typhoid
Tetanus
COVID-19 (depending on airline or transit country requirements)
No mandatory quarantine or PCR testing for fully vaccinated travelers.
Unvaccinated travelers may need a PCR or rapid test taken within 72 hours before arrival.

Airports: Kilimanjaro International (JRO), Julius Nyerere International (DAR), Zanzibar International (ZNZ), Arusha Airport (ARK).
Land Borders: Namanga (Kenya), Taveta/Holili (Kenya), Rusumo (Rwanda), and others.
Seaports: Mainly in Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam.
